John Fiola
John’s passion for wine began when his competitive running career was winding down. His introduction to wines started by volunteering to get the wines for a holiday dinner one year where he met a fabulous retailer who got him hooked.
John entered the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) certification program in 2006, and holds the WSET Level 4 Diploma (with Merit). He has been teaching WSET Courses since 2011. He also holds the Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) from the Society of Wine Educators, and the French, Italian, and Spanish Wine Scholar certifications (with High Honors) from the Wine Scholar Guild. He has also completed the Wine Scholar Guild's master levels in Alsace and Champagne.
John is a former director of the Boston Sommelier Society, former tour guide with City Wine Tours, and a former Wine Instructor with the Boston Center for Adult Education.
John has been teaching wine courses in the Boston area since 2006 and thoroughly enjoys the education aspect of wine. Along with teaching classes at the Commonwealth Wine School, he also teaches at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education.
