Lyn Farmer has been a leading wine and food journalist and educator for more than 30 years. Based in Miami, he has reported from nearly every major wine region in the world. Lyn is the recipient of the James Beard Foundation Award for best writing on wines and spirits and he holds the prestigious WSET Diploma and is a WSET Certified Educator who teaches throughout the United States. An experienced seminar leader, Lyn has taught masterclasses for VinItaly, the Italian Trade Commission, Slow Wine, Sopexa and various French wine regions, the Champagne Bureau and the governing body for the Port wine region among many others. He is also certified by the Society of Wine Educators and the Sake Education Council in Tokyo.
For 20 years, Lyn was the senior editor of The Wine News magazine and has written extensively on wine, food and dining for major newspapers and magazines across the country including Tasting Panel, The Clever Root and Somm Journal. He developed specialty wine and food programs, including a series of video programs, for both Regent and Silversea cruise lines. Lyn has also taught music history and appreciation courses at the University of Miami and Florida International University and has been program director of classical music and jazz radio stations. He began his career in the U.S. Foreign Service with the U.S. Information Agency and he has served for more than two decades as director of VeritageMiami, a wine and food festival that has raised more than $15 Million for United Way Miami.
