Sarah left her previous fields of Electrical Engineering and Physics (BS and MS, UCLA), opting to pursue a career following her passion for wine. After attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, she gained sommelier and retail experience in New York City. A subsequent year and a half of vintage work in Bordeaux, Italy, and Australia followed. Sarah founded The Barrel Room in San Francisco in 2011 and serves as the Wine Director and Wine Educator.
Sarah currently resides in Keene, New Hampshire. There, she acts as a private consultant and wine director, creating award-winning wine lists for restaurants in the New England area. In addition she recently founded Northeast Wine Company, a distribution company focused on introducing wines of the Northeast US to the New England area. Education is her priority; she currently guest lectures in wine and hospitality courses at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. She recently completed her WSET Diploma in early 2022.
