A Grape By Any Other Name: Decoding Grape Names Around The World
A Zinfandel is a Zinfandel is a Zinfandel. Unless you are in Italy, then it is Primitivo. Or Tribidrag if you want to use its historical name.
Love Chenin Blanc? If you are in certain areas of France, you’ll find it as Vouvray. Visiting South Africa - they call it Steen.
So they have different names country to country, decade to decade - do they taste different too? Join wine educator Christina Kach to learn some history about wine nomenclature and how to find your favorite grapes by their aliases. The conversation will be complemented by the fun part of learning wine history - tasting! We will travel the world via popular grapes as they are known in different countries.
If you have a favorite grape and want to learn if it appears elsewhere in this vast wine world of ours - stop by and find out. Carmen Sandiego would be proud.
