Jimmy’s Best of Virginia [April 4]
Friday, April 4, 6:30pm-8pm ET
Our wine school founder & director Jessica Sculley and Jimmy Smith (Wine With Jimmy, West London Wine School, Beare Green Winery UK) travelled to the emerging winemaking state of Virginia in December to unearth the top drops being produced. Jimmy will lead a fascinating tasting on the 'state for lovers' as he discusses its history, grapegrowing challenges and winemaking trends across several hand-picked fantastic wines. They'll be a focus on Cabernet Franc, the state's leading variety, but also a dabble in Chardonnay, Riesling, Petit Manseng, Nebbiolo, Albarino and even the local unique Norton variety.
Jimmy also likes to show diversity of producers too, selecting more classic traditional estates such as Barboursville to more modern and funky producers such as the Commonwealth Crush Company. It certainly is a night not to be missed and to join Jimmy's eclectic repertoire at the school after classes on the UK and Canada.
Jimmy has been running West London Wine School since January 2010. He also co-founded Streatham Wine House in October 2016 and became co-owner of South London Wine School in June 2019. In 2020, Jimmy started his Youtube channel ‘Wine With Jimmy’ aimed at providing top quality wine-focused educational content.

Come join Mark Pygott MW at Commonwealth Wine School for an evening of exploration and decadence as you taste through a wide range of wine styles from throughout Sicily, both traditional and Contemporary. It’s a particularly good starting point for people just beginning to work in restaurants, hospitality, or retail. Level 1 is a fun way to get up to speed on what wine is and how it differs by style.
The Level 1 course provides a systematized way of learning about and tasting wine, focusing on knowledge that is practical, hands-on, and designed to build a foundation for future exploration. The course will introduce you to basics of wine, broad different styles, simple storage and service rules, and easy techniques for pairing wine with a range of foods.
