Germany and Austria - The Underrated Icons of Europe [July 8]
Thursday, July 8th, 6:30 - 8pm
While France, Spain and Italy dominate the European wine export markets, it is Germany and Austria that actually produce a higher percentage of top-quality wines than their Romantic-language speaking neighbors. While a lot of these wines are consumed on the continent, what does get exported sadly gets pushed away due to the language barrier that makes the wines seem unapproachable and rather intimidating.
Led by Michael Meagher, one of fewer than 270 Master Sommeliers worldwide, this seminar will focus on six of Germany and Austria’s top regions and wine styles, and will give you some of the basics for label terminology, technique, grape varieties, and of course some of the best examples of wines that makes these countries stand out from the crowd.
