WSET Level 2 Award In Beer Online March Session [May 14 - June 18]

Exam will be online Sunday, June 22nd, 2025 at noon ET or can be arranged in person at a later date.

If you know the basic beer styles—such as what separates an Ale from a Lager and that Oktoberfest is originally from Germany —then begin at Level 2. This beginner to intermediate beer course offers greater breadth and depth of material, more tasting opportunities and additional classroom hours compared to Level 1. It’s for anyone who:

  • Works in beer or who want a career in the industry

  • Has a serious interest in deepening their beer knowledge

  • Wishes to become a more confident beer taster

In this course you’ll learn:

  • About a wide range of beers and the main ingredients used in beer production.

  • Important beer producing regions of the US & the world.

  • The ins and outs of beer storage & service

  • Over 60 diverse beer styles and explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these beers with confidence using WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Beer®.

How does the Online Course work?

  1. The online course is based around a six-week online program with online educator support available for this time. It features 4 live lecture and tasting webinars, recorded lectures, activities, and quizzes and can also be accessed at any time 24/7 during the 4-week session.

  2. Each module includes a series of independent activities to help you understand beer label terminology and recognize the styles produced by the different ingredients used in key beer producing regions.

  3. There is a recommendation of six hours study per week to cover the online activities and read the relevant chapters in the textbook.

  4. Regular access and participation in the course online activities is essential for this mode of study. While participation in the webinars is encouraged, it is NOT required, as all webinars will be recorded and posted to the Online Learning Platform.

  5. You can contact the educator any time for the duration of the scheduled course, should you have any questions.

  6. Each module includes a series of independent activities to help you understand the differences between the ingredients used in the production of beer and the various beer styles.

  7. At the end of the course, you’ll complete a short, multiple-choice exam (see schedule above), and upon passing, will receive a Level 2 WSET certificate.

Beer Tasting:

Students will receive a list of Beers that can be assessed throughout the course. Students will practice tasting live with their instructor and can post their tasting notes in the Online Classroom for review by the educator. For the complete specification for this course click here.
