The Spanish Wine Scholar™ education program is the most advanced and comprehensive certification course on the wines of Spain. The syllabus takes a regional approach and discusses all Spanish wine appellations and the factors that shape their identities
The program was created by Spanish wine specialist Rick Fisher, Spanish Wine Scholar™ Education Director.
Wines from Spain (ICEX - Spain's Trade & Investment Government Agency) has endorsed the program in recognition of its exceptional level of depth, accuracy, detail, and academic rigor.
The Spanish Wine Scholar study and certification program confers a post-nominal to wine professionals and enthusiasts who successfully pass the certification exam (Ex: John Smith, SWS). With a school network encompassing 30 countries on 5 continents, the SWS credential has true international recognition.

This session will include 18 hours of classroom instruction with tutored tasting taught by approved instructor, Erika Frey, SWS, IWS, FWS, DipWSET, plus:
The 315-page full-color Spanish Wine Scholar study manual
1-year access to the Spanish Wine Scholar online study program for class preparation and review
Registration for the Spanish Wine Scholar exam
In order to bring each region to life, you will also taste many different wines over the course of the program.

The schedule of classes is designed to give students the necessary time to truly assimilate the extensive body of material presented:
Classes will run for 6 weeks, February 18 - March 25, with a review date on April 1st and Exam on April 8th.

In Person at Commonwealth Wine School, includes tastings: $995
Online with Tasting Kit available for Pick-Up at Commonwealth Wine School: $995
Online with tasting list provided: $790
You can choose to take this class at Commonwealth Wine School or Online through Zoom. Tastings are provided as part of the in-person class, or available for pick up at our school if you select the online with tasting kit registrations option. For those who choose to register for the online class only, wine lists will be provided so that you may taste along at home.
Register by February 10th to ensure timely delivery of course materials.
